1. Providing funds to educational institutions for the benefit of O'Briens.
The board of directors, or committees appointed by the board, shall use appropriate methods to award scholarships to worthy O'Brien's around the world in furtherance of their education and their careers. We may also grant-aid Universities that promote graduate study programs that enhance the awareness of history and the role of our Clan in it.
2. Supporting the arts.
Activities in this area may include music, dance, theatre, literature, etc. The Foundation may support an actual event, its publication or other form of dissemination. The Foundation may also provide support to individuals, groups, clubs, schools, academies, etc.
3. By supporting the education of Irish genealogy, history and culture.
The Foundation hopes to fund the creation of an O'Brien Institute ( Library, Genealogical Research and Museum) in Ireland. Its purpose shall be to provide genealogical research, publish, disseminate, and display works relevant to the O'Brien role in history and Irish culture, and act as a centre of learning.
4. By promoting peace on the island of Ireland through better understanding among all Irish men and women worldwide.
Steeped in their history as one of the oldest Clans to populate Ireland, The O'Brien's have a unique awareness and respect for Irelands many religious and political traditions. The descendants of Brian Boru have a lineage which spans 1000 years from the Battle of Clontarf, Colonization, the Great Famine, Independence, The Civil War, The Troubles, and the incredible rebuilding of Ireland as one of the strongest economies in Europe. This perspective underlines the role of the Clan and its desire to be a constructive force for promoting peace and reconciliation on this Island.
