The Beara Breifne Greenway Events.
To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the historic march of O'Sullivan Beara from the Beara Peninsula in West Cork to Breifne in the Cavan Leitrim area. There will be a systematic series of festivals beginning in Blacklion in Co Cavan on the 17th May 2003 and finishing in Beara Peninsula Co. Cork/Kerry on 13th September 2003.
This series of festivals is called the Beara Breifne Greenway Events. Each town along the O'Sullivan Beara route will be a holding a festival which will be a mixture of walking, cycling, heritage, clan events, street entertainment and music.
In each area there will be a clan re-enactment and gathering to celebrate the individual clan in each area.
The O'Brien Clan gathering will be held on:
1 August at Tipperary Town, Co. Tipperary;
2 August at Galbally, Co. Limerick.
Each gathering will no doubt prove to ba an interesting and fun experience with a chance to meet locals from your own ancestral clan along with people who have travelled from far and away for this unique opportunity. |
